Cape Town to Knysna, to Hermanus 6 Days / 5 Nights Itinerary

Day 1: Oudtshoorn

German,French & Spanish Tour Guides are available at an additional fee of R2500 


Depart from your hotel in Cape Town at 10:00am.We take the best driving route via the N1 until the Huguenot tunnel and continue with the Du Toits Kloof pass, then we take the R60 to Worcester, Robertson and Ashton, as we pass Kogmanskloof Mountain Pass (The pass was built by Thomas Charles John Bain and completed in 1877 as one of the first routes inland through that mountain range.) to Montagu and join up with the R62 which is considered to be the longest wine route in the world. We pass Barrydale,Ladysmith over the Huisrivier Pass to Calitzdorp and finally to Oudtshoorn  The trip is around 460 km or 5:30 hours driving .


  • Transfer from your hotel in Cape Town
  • Lunch stop (own account) in Barrydale (our three hour mark)
  • Continued transfer to Oudtshoorn
  • Introduction to the little Town of Oudtshoorn
  • Check in at the Riempies hotel 
  • Dinner (Included)

Day 2: Oudtshoorn/ Knysna

Breakfast 

Check out at 9:00am after breakfast and drive through the  charming town of Oudtshoorn, home to South Africa’s ostrich farm industry and the world famous Cango Caves as well as Knysna, situated between lush forests and the shores of a peaceful lagoon, offering a wide variety of activities and attractions.


  • Visit the Cango Caves 
  • Visit the Cango Ostrich Ranch 
  • Lunch at “Smits Winkel( for your own account ) 
  • Check in late afternoon at the Moorings Hotel 
  • Rest of the day is at Leisure

Day 3: Kynsna

After breakfast we depart for our unforgettable 4 hour Eco experience on the Knysna Lagoon and board our Ferry to the Featherbed Nature Reserve, situated on the Western Head in Knysna. Directly after we visit “Monkey Land” and “Birds of Eden”.  


  • Return ferry trip on the Knysna Lagoon to the Western Head. 
  • 4x4 vehicle & trailer drive up the headland onto the reserve, stopping at spectacular viewpoints. 
  • Specialist guide giving information on history, fauna & flora. 
  • Optional 2.2km walk through coastal forest and fynbos into ancient sea caves. 
  • World renowned buffet lunch in either the indoor restaurant or outdoor setting under a canopy of Milkwood trees.  
  • Visit Monkey Land & Birds of Eden

Day 4: Kynsna/Mossel Bay/Hermanus

After breakfast we check out and depart at 9:00am for the Bloukrans Bridge, the bungy jumps takes place from the top of the arch of Africa’s biggest bridge with the underside of the road deck 216 meters above the Bloukrans River. Thereafter we depart for the town of Mossel Bay to visit the “Bartolomeu of Dias Museum Complex” and then onto the town of Hermanus for check in.. 


  • Visit Bloukrans Bridge (1 hour max) choose from either: 
  • (1)Bungee Jump-R1400.00 p/p  (2) Bridge walk-R150.00 p/p  (Own Account) kindly pre-book with Agent to avoid disappointment. 
  • Transfer to Mossel Bay (Latest 11:am)  
  • Visit the Bartolomeu of Dias Museum Complex (Arrival at 12:30pm) 
  • Transfer to Hermanus Beach Lodge or similar (Latest 1:30pm) 
  • Check into the Hermanus Beach Lodge or Similar ( Latest 5:30pm) 
  • Rest of the night is at Leisure

Day 5:Hermanus

Day at leisure with optional tours to choose from for your own account. (Please ensure that you pre-book these tours with your agent (bookings@stoberstours.com)   


Own Account 

  • Shark Cage diving 
  • Boat Based Whale Watching (From June to November) 
  • Sea Kayaking Hermanus Sunset Cruise 
  • Mountain Bike sand dune trail in De Kelders
  • Mountain Bike Beach trails in De Kelders
  • Horse Riding at Pearly beach 
  • Visit Cape Agulhas  

Overnight stay at the “Hermanus beach Lodge or Similar.

Day 6: Hermanus to Cape Town

After breakfast, we check out and  take a walk along the “Cliff Path” a 12km walk along the rugged coastline from Hermanus New Harbour to “Piet-se Bos’ at Grotto Beach and then we conclude our Garden Route experience with our transfer back. Wine Tasting at a farm in Hermanus 

  • 2km Walk along the Cliff Path 
  • Wine tasting at a wine farm (Optional for your own account) 
  • Return to Cape Town.
